When my girlfriend and I finally decided to get married, we wanted to get a nice place to live together that would be an upgrade for both of us, but when we saw the carpet in our new place, we both immediately knew that we wanted to look at shag area rugs to cover it up. It's not just that the carpet in our new apartment was ugly, but it had some weird stains that I knew were not going to come out easily and I did not enjoy the idea of walking around barefoot on it.
And we had both enjoyed the newish shag carpet that I had had in my old college apartment, so we felt that exploring shag area rugs was the way to go. We were a little nervous about staying there for the first little while, and we kept our shoes on all the time, and tried to avoid putting any of our things on the gross old carpet.
While we could have asked our landlord about getting new carpet, we were both a little afraid of our crusty old landlord and thought that he might spit in our faces or triple our rent if we dared even mention the carpet to him. We determined to just handle the situation ourselves and we figured the bright side would be that if we bought some awesome rugs, we could take them with us when we were ready to move into a better place.
We went down to the nearest carpet store, thinking that it would be the easiest thing in the world to find a nice shag, buy it, and have it delivered within a few days. But we were definitely mistaken, as we couldn't find anything that we liked in the store, and all of the prices were terribly high. We returned home feeling gloomy and when we walked through the door and saw the horrible carpet, we felt even worse.
While we were watching TV that night, my wife jumped onto the computer and a minute later told me that she had just ordered the perfect rug and it would be here in two days. I couldn't believe that she had done it just like that, but she laughed and showed me the website and she also showed me that this same website had some awesome outdoor rugs for patios that would be really great for when we moved out into a bigger house, which she told me we were going to need in about nine months when the baby arrived!
